► Romanian contemporary art painter ( 1939-2010) . Studied at ‘Ion Andreescu’ Academy of Visual Arts Cluj-Napoca.

Since 1969 ,he has frequently participated in numerous groups exhibitions , anniversaries, celebrations, mostly held at the National Museum of Art from Cluj-Napoca. His works were included in the ‘Cluj 70 ’ exhibition , held at Dalles Hall from Bucharest(1970) , in the exhibitions of the ‘Lucian Blaga’ International Festival ( 1991) , also in museums and state collections in Romania and private collections in Italy, Germany, Spain, Norway, Austria, England, Greece, Israel, U.S.A.

Dominant colors of his paintings are the well-known red , blue and yellow alloy. He lived for a long time in the fascinating privacy of Transilvania’s rural universe, especially Maramures and therefore expression in speech naturalness of these realities has established itself as a pure breath.

Themes his works evoke openly the city of Maramures : Monumental Gate, Trinity as sign of pious rememberance for the known or unknown heroes, Dowry chest. In other words, a world full of splendor and subtle symbolism, legends and myths, which transpires a strong sense of existence.

► Jo Owens Murray ( artbyjo ) was raised in Florence, South Carolina and is one of nine children. She graduated from Rosemont College in May 1993 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Art History and is a self-taught artist. Ms. Owens Murray’s sculptures are in the permanent collections of four museums.

She started her career as a photographer, but was drawn to assemblage sculpture by way of experiments with various recycled materials, jewelry and fabrics. Her assemblage sculptures, which she call “My Girls”, are unique and exceptional examples of contemporary Surrealism.

The beaded sculptures prompt questions about beauty, femininity, identity, loss, grief and redemption. Journalist Burton Wasserman wrote that her work is “deeply rooted layers of personal memory, thought and feeling, joined with reflections on the various roles played by women in society, past and present.”

► Sean K. L. Browne (born 1953) is a contemporary sculptor who was born in Hilo, Hawaii. He attended the Kamehameha Schools and then earned a BA in studio art from the University of Redlands in 1975. In 1981, he studied marble carving under Paoli Silverio in Pietrasanta, Italy and was later appointed an artist-in-residence at the Henraux Marble Company in Lucca, Italy. He returned to Hawaii and earned an MFA in sculpture from the University of Hawaii at Manoa in 1983. In 1985 he was awarded a Fulbright Fellowship, enabling him to study with Isamu Noguchi in Shikoku, Japan. For many years, Browne taught sculpture at the University of Hawaii at Manoa and at Kapiolani Community College.
Browne is best known for monumental sight-specific sculptures (such as Spirit Way), but also created small works for indoor display (such as Ikaika).

► ARTIST BIO:
Yukke Roswenda Rose, better known as +Yucca Rose , is a noted jazz vocalist and contemporary painter from Malang in East Java, where she was born on June 21th, 1979. To further her musical career, she moved to Jakarta to study at Elfa Music Studio and Institut Music Daya Indonesia. Over the last eight years, she performed with a wide variety of jazz bands and musicians, and recorded an album with the Jakarta based band “Major Seventh” (published by Disc Tarra Indonesia). She now writes her own material, which will be released on her upcoming first solo album later this year.

Yucca Rose recently appeared in a leading role as actress, vocalist and announcer in the Cirque Du Soleil style theatrical show “Regalia - The Enchanted Forest” at the Bali Theater (Bali Safari and Marine Park) with stunning live performances on May 14th, 2011 and the Gala on June 4th, 2011. For this show, she is also credited as Costume/Stage Designer and Artistic Co-Director.

Her company Rose Entertainment develops high-end theatrical shows, contemporary and traditional art festivals/showcases as well as music events for her upscale clientele. (W-Hotel, Hyatt, etc.)

As a highly regarded contemporary painter and designer, Yucca Rose still finds the time to paint - constantly adding to her extensive collection of artwork - to be displayed later this year in exhibitions in Jakarta and Bali.

► Artist Statement : ” In the family my first idol was my mother’s brother, uncle August Deržek, who was an excellent graphic and water colorist. The Provincial Museum of Celje has some of his graphics and the Museum of Recent History, also in Celje, has part of his artistic legacy in watercolors.

I have expanded my knowledge of craft skills by socializing with the right people, who are not afraid to share their knowledge with others.
I have been really lucky and always “come across” people who were willing to open the door to their knowledge, to monitor my work and to give me the opportunity to learn from them. Among them was the Macedonian painter Goce Kalajdžiski, who acquainted me with painting and graphic techniques, then the glass master Cyril Zobec from Rogaška Slatina, who introduced me to the mysterious world of fused glass, and here is my mentor for guitar playing, upholsterer Fahir Tutnjić – Faki, with whom I’m designing and producing fine art chairs. ”
