◄ Awesome Paintings by Gabi ►

► Gabi was born in Hungary, but moved to Canada in 1989. She always had good imagination and a creative side but only in the her early 20′s she found her inspiration to start painting and only in the last 7 years she found herself, and her own style of painting. She thinks she is a late bloomer. Partly because she was so busy raising her 3 children. She loves a variety of things to paint and uses vibrant colors that pop.

Painting is her way to relax, to be creative and to escape to another world. When she paints she gets so lost in the moment that she doesn’t notice anything around her, not even the hours passing by.

Her mind is constantly thinking about the next project ahead. She is never out of ideas. At present, she is working at marketing her art through art galleries and different internet sites.

◄ Paintings by Leo Königsberg ►

► Artist Statement :
I live and work in an old industrial area of Berlin, wich was the place where the German Electric Industry started, A E G. This might be a forgotten Place, but here it is full of energy and that is what i need to make my artwork. My studio is placed midden of old factory buildings I live in the former battery laboratory house wich I developed in the beginning of 2003 in myneighborhood there are a lot of former factory’s. The most of them are closed and that is what it makes it so exiting to me as an artist. The smell and the sound of emtyness, mixed with the rest idea of former production and productive energy, it goes into me and break through in the transforming process of my artwork. Music is an important part in my life and music inspires me and my art production.Since I was a child from 5 or 6 years, I always saw any kind of music in colors and later the symphonies became colorful landscapes in my mind.I was inspired first of all by wolfgang a. Mozart, gustav mahler, anton bruckner and later of the russian composers segej rachmaninov and later a few others. In the 80ties was it john cage, lary anderson and steve reich.Aswell there was a few writer like jack kerouack, charles buckowsky, allen ginsbourg and william bourrouse and then the wonderful bob dylan and later tom waits.2it all influenced my work and the fascination of waste lands gives distinction to my work as an artist. The most interesting thing for me is in such a transforming process when nature start to destroy and takes back all buildings in there own system of life and organic structures. My paintings open a window and you become a citizen of my world of light, colors and transparence. just fly ………

The Artworks by Alexander Calder ►

► *Alexander Calder, internationally famous by his mid-30s, is renowned for developing a new idiom in modern art-the mobile. His works in this mode, from miniature to monumental, are called mobiles (suspended moving sculptures), standing mobiles (anchored moving sculptures) and stabiles (stationary constructions). Calder’s abstract works are characteristically direct, spare, buoyant, colorful and finely crafted. He made ingenious, frequently witty, use of natural and manmade materials, including wire, sheetmetal, wood and bronze.Calder was born in 1898 in Philadelphia, the son of Alexander Stirling Calder and grandson of Alexander Milne Calder, both well-known sculptors. After obtaining his mechanical engineering degree from the Stevens Institute of Technology, Calder worked at various jobs before enrolling at the Art Students League in New York City in 1923. During his student years, he did line drawings for the National Police Gazette. In 1925, Calder published his first book, Animal Sketches, illustrated in brush and ink. He produced oil paintings of city scenes, in a loose and easy style. Early in 1926, he began to carve primitivist figures in tropical woods, which remained an important medium in his work until 1930.In June 1936, Calder moved to Paris. He took some classes at the Academie de la Grande Chaumiere and made his first wire sculptures. Calder created a miniature circus in his studio; the animals, clowns and tumblers were made of wire and animated by hand. Many leading artists of the period attended, and helped with, the performances.Calder’s first New York City exhibition was in 1928, and other exhibitions in Paris and Berlin gained him international recognition as a significant artist. A visit to Piet Mondrian’s studio proved pivotal. Calder began to work in an abstract style, finishing his first nonobjective construction in 1931.In early 1932, he exhibited his first moving sculpture in an exhibition organized by Marcel Duchamp, who coined the word “mobile.” In May 1932, Calder’s fame was consolidated by the first United States show of his mobiles. Some were motor-driven, His later wind-driven mobiles enabled the sculptural parts to move independently, as Calder said, “by nature and chance.” Calder returned to the United States to live and work in Roxbury, Massachusetts in June 1932.From the 1940s on, Calder’s works, many of them large-scale outdoor sculptures, have been placed in virtually every major city of the Western world. In the 1950s, he created two new series of mobiles: “Towers,” which included wall-mounted wire constructions, and “Gongs,” mobiles with sound.Calder was prolific and worked throughout his career in many art forms. He produced drawings, oil paintings, watercolors, etchings, gouache and serigraphy. He also designed jewelry, tapestry, theatre settings and architectural interiors. Calder died in 1976.

◄ Fantasy Art by Michael Whelan ►

► Michael Whelan (born June 29, 1950) is an American artist of imaginative realism. For more than 30 years he worked as an illustrator specializing in science fiction and fantasy cover art.
Since the mid-1990s he has pursued a fine art career, selling non-commissioned paintings through galleries in the United States and through his website.
The Science Fiction Hall of Fame inducted Whelan in June 2009, the first living artist so honored.
According to his Hall of Fame citation,Michael Whelan is one of the most important contemporary science fiction and fantasy artists, and certainly the most popular.
His work was a dominant force in the transition of genre book covers away from the surrealism introduced in the 1950s and 1960s back to realism.
His paintings have appeared on the covers of more than 350 books and magazines, including many Stephen King novels, most of the Del Rey editions of Anne McCaffrey’s Dragonriders of Pern series, Piers Anthony’s Incarnations of Immortality series, the Del Rey edition of Edgar Rice Burroughs’ Mars series, Melanie Rawn’s Dragon Prince and Dragon Star series, the DAW editions of Michael Moorcock’s Elric books, numerous DAW editions of C. J. Cherryh’s work, many of Robert A. Heinlein’s novels including Friday and The Cat Who Walks Through Walls, the Ace editions of H. Beam Piper’s Fuzzy novels, and Tad Williams’s Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn, Otherland, and Shadowmarch series. Whelan provided covers and interior illustrations for Stephen King’s The Gunslinger and The Dark Tower, the first and last of his Dark Tower books.
Cover art by Michael Whelan has graced many music record albums including The Jacksons’ Victory; Sepultura’s Beneath the Remains, Arise, Chaos A.D., and Roots; Soulfly’s Dark Ages; Obituary’s Cause of Death; and every album by the Elric-influenced metal band Cirith Ungol.
He painted original works for the covers of Meat Loaf’s Bat Out Of Hell II: Back Into Hell and The Very Best of Meat Loaf albums and several of his older paintings illustrate the liner notes of the former. Recently he painted the cover art for thrash metal band Evile’s album Infected Nations.
He has also illustrated cards for the Magic: The Gathering collectible card game.
